About Me
What made you want to become a health care provider or what is your earliest memory of wanting to be one?
The prestige associated with medicine always fascinated me and played a big role in my career choice.
What do you love most about your specialty? / Why did you choose your specialty?
Medicine fascinates me for a number of reasons. As I embark on a career in medicine, I am constantly reminded of the power of each decision in improving the lives of patients. In no other field is there an outcome so crucial and directly related to intervention as there is in medicine. It is incredibly rewarding, for example, to see a patient walking home after a myocardial infarction, who was in excruciating pain only a few days prior.
How do you connect with your patients?
With the advancement of modern medicine and the increase in average life expectancy, we are now dealing with more chronic conditions without cures. Both patients and physicians are sometimes frustrated with this fact. In my experience, sitting with the patient and listening to their concerns helps me connect to them and deal with their frustrations. Involving the patient in every decision helps with compliance and overall outcomes.
What are your interests outside of the office (hobbies, activities)?
I love to read books and spend time with my family.
What is your advice for your patients?
Read about your illness, chronic or acute, and ask questions. This is the best way to learn about your disease and how to manage it.
