The Area’s First AASM-Accredited Sleep Center

Welcome to the Sleep Center at Crystal Run. Our Rock Hill and Middletown sleep centers are accredited by The American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). The AASM is the national accrediting body for sleep disorders centers and laboratories for sleep-related breathing disorders like sleep apnea. In fact, ours was the first AASM-accredited sleep center in Orange or Sullivan Counties.

Our sleep medicine doctors diagnose and treat the complete range of sleep disorders, from snoring and obstructive sleep apnea to insomnia, narcolepsy, periodic limb movement disorder, and restless legs syndrome. Our team conducts comprehensive overnight sleep studies in private, hotel-like rooms in our state-of-the-art sleep center in Rock Hill.

We treat patients of all ages, from children as young as two years old to seniors at our sleep lab. The sleep specialists and staff at Crystal Run Healthcare partner with you to ensure you get the uninterrupted rest you deserve.

Tools We Use to Diagnose Sleep Disorders

  • The Epworth Sleepiness Scale: Do you have unhealthy sleep patterns? Does lack of sleep affect you while at work or driving? Or, are you just tired? Click here to take a short quiz. Your answers may indicate whether you should discuss your concerns with your doctor, who may refer you to a sleep medicine specialist.
  • STOP-BANG Questionnaire: Do you snore or wake up feeling tired, fatigued, or sleepy? Has your bed partner observed you stop breathing or gasping for air while sleeping? You may be at risk for obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Take the STOP-BANG quiz to find out.

Do You Need a Sleep Study?

Known as a polysomnogram, a sleep study is a non-invasive test that records your sleep pattern, breathing, oxygen level, heart rate and rhythm, and muscle tone while you sleep.

About 60 million Americans suffer from a long-term or occasional sleep disorder without even knowing it. Over time, chronic lack of sleep can lead to serious or even life-threatening health problems. If you’re overweight and you snore or feel sleepy during the day, a sleep study at our state-of-the-art sleep clinic may be right for you.

Conducting a sleep study in Rock Hill’s sleep center is the best course of action to diagnose if you suffer from sleep disturbances or a sleep disorder. Certain patients may qualify for a home sleep apnea test (HSAT) which is only used to diagnose OSA. During which, a patient is given an in-home device that monitors oxygen levels, heart rate, breathing effort and breathing patterns, position and duration of events while the patient sleeps. The device is then brought back to Crystal Run and the data is analyzed by a medical professional.

Our interdisciplinary team works together to get to the root of the problem and ensure you get the care you need, whether it’s sleep apnea surgery or treatment for night terrors or restless legs syndrome. Contact us to schedule an appointment with one of our esteemed sleep specialists.
