About Me
What made you want to become a health care provider or what is your earliest memory of wanting to be one?
My earliest memory of wanting to be a doctor is as a child, "prescribing" medicine to my family members when they were sick. Still remember the pleasure it gave me when he said it made him better. This became the foundation for my desire to be able to help people as a physician.
What do you love most about your specialty? / Why did you choose your specialty?
Nephrology is an embodiment of all sub-specialties of medicine. It requires an in depth knowledge of basic patho-physiology and understanding of disease processes. Several systemic illnesses affect the kidney. It allows me to see the patient as a whole and requires me to keep abreast of all sub specialties of Medicine.
How do you connect with your patients?
I am a big believer of patient education and empowerment. I believe in demystifying the disease to the patient, explaining the various aspects of the disease and its progression, and discussing possible complications and basic understanding of the disease helps patient's take better care of themselves.
What are your interests outside of the office (hobbies, activities)?
I love travelling-meeting new people, tasting different cuisine, observing different cultures.
What is your advice for your patients?
Be pro-active about your health, know your disease and medication, ask questions.
