Practice Joins Communities in the Ongoing Fight against Cancer
Middletown, N.Y. – June 26, 2017– Physicians and staff of Crystal Run Healthcare came together to fundraise for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. A total of $2,550 funds were raised by employees in a variety of ways including a practice-wide dress down day as well as numerous raffles and bake sales throughout the last several months. Including Crystal Run Healthcare’s corporate sponsorship, a grand total of $14,550 was donated to the American Cancer Society in support of five local Relays including Sullivan County, Newburgh, Pine Bush, Goshen and Rockland County. The monies raised support the American Cancer Society’s mission of eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing it, saving lives, and lessening suffering from cancer, through education, research, service, and support. Each year, more than 5,200 communities and 20 countries come together to raise necessary funds and awareness to save lives from cancer through the Relay for Life movement. At these events, participants and survivors celebrate what they’ve overcome, remember those who have lost the battle against such a deadly disease, and honor those who have fought or are still fighting. The Relay for Life movement inspires all participants to take action against a disease that has taken too much.
Crystal Run Healthcare Oncologist, Dr. Marc Rappaport, spoke at the opening ceremony of the Relay for Life of Newburgh. At the Relay for Life of Rockland County, Dr. Ravi Shah, Crystal Run Healthcare Oncologist out of the Practice’s West Nyack office, addressed the crowd during the opening ceremony. Dr. Manuel C. Perry, Crystal Run Healthcare Oncologist, helped to kick off the opening ceremony of the Relay for Life of Sullivan County. Staff members & providers from Crystal Run Healthcare were also at each Relay with giveaways and educational materials, as well as selling raffle tickets to a variety of prizes. All proceeds for the raffle ticket sales were donated to the Relay for Life. Crystal Run Healthcare has been a Corporate Sponsor of the Relay for Life since 2003.
“Each year, I feel honored to be a part of the Relay for Life movement and was extremely pleased to help kick-off the opening ceremony at this year’s Relay for Life of Sullivan County event. Both physicians and staff at Crystal Run continue to show their overwhelming support in the fight to end cancer by participating in these annual events, or by donating money to support the American Cancer Society’s effort to eradicate this devastating disease through vital research. It is truly humbling to be a part of such a powerful movement that celebrates survivors, honors cancer victims, and keeps hope alive,” said Dr. Manuel C. Perry, Oncologist at Crystal Run Healthcare.
