What made you want to become a health care provider or what is your earliest memory of wanting to be one?

What made you want to become a health care provider or what is your earliest memory of wanting to be one? I’ve always been drawn to caring for others, but my earliest memory of wanting to become a healthcare provider was when I saw how compassionate and skilled nurses made a difference during a family member’s hospitalization. That experience showed me the impact of empathy combined with clinical expertise, and it inspired me to pursue a career where I could help patients through some of their most challenging moments.

What do you love most about your specialty? / Why did you choose your specialty?

I chose hematology/oncology because it allows me to combine advanced, evolving science with compassionate, patient-centered care. What I love most about this specialty is the opportunity to build meaningful relationships with patients and support them through some of life’s most challenging moments. It’s a field that requires both knowledge and empathy, and I’m passionate about providing both.

How do you connect with your patients?

I connect with my patients by listening carefully and making sure they feel heard and understood. I believe trust starts with empathy, so I take time to explain things clearly and answer questions in a way that makes patients feel comfortable and informed. Building a relationship based on respect and compassion is at the heart of how I care for every patient.

What are your interests outside of the office (hobbies, activities)?

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, shopping, and baking. I absolutely love my two dogs, a French Bulldog and a Dachshund. They keep life fun and full of energy. Whether it’s trying a new recipe or enjoying a relaxing day with loved ones, these activities help me recharge and bring balance to my life.

What is your advice for your patients?

My advice for patients is to never hesitate to ask questions and advocate for yourself. Understanding your care plan is empowering, and I’m here to make sure you feel informed and supported every step of the way. Take things one day at a time, lean on your care team, and remember that we’re partners in your health journey.
