About Me

What made you want to become a health care provider or what is your earliest memory of wanting to be one?

I knew in high school that I wanted to become a doctor.  Due to a family illness, I was exposed to the healthcare system at an early age and saw the impact doctors had on their patient's lives.  I felt there was no other field where I could have that kind of relationship with others and impact the world in a positive way.  My enjoyment of the sciences while in college solidified these beliefs.

What do you love most about your specialty? / Why did you choose your specialty?

I chose Gastroenterology as it has a mix of acute and chronic illness, as well as procedures.  I enjoy seeing patients with chronic disease so that I can build long-term relationships and have an impact on their lives.  I also enjoy treating acute illness due to the immediate satisfaction it can provide to the patient.

How do you connect with your patients?

I connect with my patients by taking the time to get to know them and make them feel comfortable.  I treat each patient as if they were a family member.  I listen to all of the patient's questions and concerns and try to come up with a plan that fits their lifestyle.

What are your interests outside of the office (hobbies, activities)?

My interests outside of the office include playing golf, rooting for Michigan football, attending Mets games, and trying new restaurants.  I also enjoy spending time with my wife, Arielle, our dog, Milo, and my entire family.

What is your advice for your patients?

The advice that I would most give my patients is to stay informed about their health and be your own advocate.  I advise them to lead healthy lives by exercising and keeping up with routine appointments and screenings.
