Middletown, N.Y. – July 3, 2018– As a Corporate Sponsor of the Relay for Life since 2003, Crystal Run Healthcare has donated nearly $300,000 to the American Cancer Society through a combination of corporate sponsorships and employee fundraising efforts. Crystal Run’s support for the American Cancer Society is an extension of its commitment to give back to the Hudson Valley community. Crystal Run serves over 350,000 patients in the region each year, many of whom qualify as low-income.

For the fifteenth consecutive year, physicians and staff of Crystal Run Healthcare came together to fundraise for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. Employees raised $8,129.40 in a variety of ways, and with Crystal Run Healthcare’s corporate sponsorship for 2018, the company and its employees donated a grand total of $14,629.40 to support two local events, the Relay for Life of Pine Bush and The Relay for Life of Rockland. Averaging 1.5 million annual visits, Crystal Run provides crucial healthcare services to those in need, and supports other healthcare organizations – like the American Cancer Society – working to eliminate cancer as a major health problem by preventing it, saving lives, and lessening suffering from cancer, through education, research, service, and support.

“The Relay for Life movement inspires all participants to take action against a disease that has taken too many lives. It is truly humbling to be a part of such a powerful movement every year that celebrates survivors, honors cancer victims, and keeps hope alive,” said Dr. Manuel C. Perry, Oncologist at Crystal Run Healthcare. “At Crystal Run Healthcare, we are committed to providing exceptional cancer care and staying up-to-date on the newest cancer research. We’re one of 192 organizations participating in Oncology Care Model (OCM), a Medicare Program to benefit cancer patients and continue to look for ways to improve care for this devastating disease.”

At the Relay for Life of Pine Bush, Dr. Manuel C. Perry, Crystal Run Healthcare Oncologist, helped to kick off the opening ceremony.  Staff members and providers from Crystal Run Healthcare were also at both Relays with giveaways and educational materials, and sold raffle tickets for a variety of prizes to raise additional funds for the American Cancer Society.

More than 5,200 communities in 20 countries come together every year to raise necessary funds and awareness to save lives from cancer through the Relay for Life movement.  At these events, participants and survivors celebrate what they’ve overcome, remember those who have lost the battle against such a deadly disease, and honor those who have fought or are still fighting.
